I was born in Athens, Greece. After graduating from Varvakios School, I studied at the University of Athens (BSc), Athens University of Economics and Business (MSc) and West Virginia University (PhD). I joined the Business School at Bournemouth University as a Professor of Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour in May
2010. I was previously at Brunel University where I served as Head of the Department of Economics and Finance. I have
held visiting teaching and research appointments in several universities and organisations, including the University of Kent,
City University, NYU in London, and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
I have published widely in the areas of personnel economics, human resource management, well-being at work and behavioural
economics. My recent publications include articles in international reputation journals such as Kyklos, Economic
Journal, Psychological Science, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of
Economic Behavior and Organization, Economica, and Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. My
work has been highly cited and has attracted media coverage. I have more than 1500 citations in Google Scholar and ranked
in the 5th percentile in the REPEC rankings. My current research interests focus on personnel selection and assessment,
organisational change and adaptation, intrinsic motivation and labour market outcomes, and social comparisons at work.
I am interested in supervising PhD students in any of these areas.
